Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance
EIEF is an independent research institute, created in 2008 by the Bank of Italy.
EIEF’s produces world-class research in economics and finance and helps reversing Italy’s “brain drain” by attracting leading foreign and Italian scholars abroad to come to Italy. It also aims to strengthen higher education in Italy co-operating with Italian universities. EIEF adopts the standards of the best international academic departments; it recruits its junior researchers in the competitive job markets for economists, held each year in the U.S.; its senior researchers have international academic reputation; it has a strong visitor’s program, hosting many world-renowned economists. EIEF runs a weekly seminar schedule (more than 100 seminars per year), and organizes conferences, workshops, Summer Lectures and advanced short courses.
According to a RePEc ranking which does not penalize for the small faculty size, EIEF ranks second among all Italian economic research institutions, and in the top 2% of economic research centres worldwide (5,500 institutions). Six of its researchers have obtained prestigious grants from the European Research Council, after a highly competitive selection process.
