RoME offers the students an effective and personalized tutoring.
In particular,
– each student is assigned a member of the Faculty as non-academic tutor, to whom the student can turn for confidential advice and support regarding any trouble she might have, including such problems as illness, money, friends and family, discuss plans and review progress. The directors of the program are always available to address problems of academic nature.
– In the workshops, the students who will present the academic papers are coached by one member of the Faculty whose area of research is closer to the topics that will be presented.
– During the Summer between the first and the second year each student is assigned a thesis supervisor, in a process that tries to match the student’s interests and the expertise of the supervisor.
– Students then conduct three presentations of their work towards the dissertation, at various stages of progress, in front of the whole Faculty, to receive feedbacks and advice that complement those offered by the supervisor.
– One member of the Faculty acts as Placement Director. His/her task is to help find the best opportunities for both students applying for a PhD and those wishing to enter the labor market. He/she meets with students regularly over the course of the Master, collects their preferences and aspirations, making sure that they are consistent with the Faculty assessment of the student’s potential, helps students in finding the Faculty members willing to write recommendation letters for them, eases the matching of demand and supply by leveraging a rich network of contacts within the academia, as well as with leading institutions in consulting, finance, international organizations, NGOs, Central Banks.
– In addition to the activity of the Placement Director, RoME students also have full access to the resources offered by the Luiss Career Service.
